Shared tour with Ajuda Botanical Garden

With the arrival of spring, the Royal Treasury Museum invites you to discover its collection and the Ajuda Botanical Garden through a guided tour that awakens all the senses. In this sensory experience, sight, touch, smell, and taste lead to a rediscovery of the objects and plants, revealing the presence of nature in materials, decorative details, symbolic meanings, and the customs of past eras.

Roses, oaks, laurels, walnut trees, rosewood, palms, cabbages, pepper, tobacco, and tea — among many other botanical elements — emerge among the gold and splendor of the collection, as well as along the garden’s paths, revealing the deep connections between botany, culture, and power.

This spring, come see, feel, smell, and taste the nature that is hidden within the Royal Treasury and blossoms in the Ajuda Botanical Garden.

Tour developed in collaboration with the UNESCO Chair in Ethnobotany (IPBeja) and the Ajuda Botanical Garden.

1. Visitors must pass through a metal detector arch and their small bags will be screened using an X-ray machine.
2. Larger bags must be left in the lockers, which will be available at the entrance, next to the shop.
3. Please arrive 15 minutes early.
